On Sunday, June 12th, 2016 a man known as Omar Mateen opened fire at “Pulse,” a popular gay nightclub in Orlando, FL, killing 49 people and injuring 53 others. Mateen lived in Fort Pierce in West Palm Beach, FL, about 120 miles away from the Orlando nightclub.

Breaking news just came in that the FBI released the full version of the Orlando killer’s calls and that his widow has been taken into custody for aiding her husband in committing the horrific act. Noor Salman now faces federal charges including obstruction of justice, aiding, and encouraging Marteen’s material support to ISIS. Authorities believe Salman acted of her own free will, despite her claims that she was coerced through her husband’s abusive behavior.
Officials say that evidence shows Salman was complicit and knew that her husband had been planning to do something terrible.
“Federal authorities have been working tirelessly on this case for more than seven months, and we are grateful that they have seen to it that some measure of justice will be served in this act of terror that has affected our community so deeply,” said Orlando police Chief John Mina.
Salman had reportedly been giving conflicting accounts regarding what she knew about her husband’s intentions during the few hours prior to the attack. Salman told the FBI that her husband wanted to carry out a jihadist attack, although she had previously denied having any knowledge of his plans.
A few months prior to the massacre, Mateen had added Salman’s name to his life insurance policy and made sure that she had access to his bank accounts. In addition, Mateen had transferred his share of the home in which his sister and brother-in-law lived to them for only $10, and bought his wife an expensive piece of jewelry. Salman also informed investigators that Mateen had spent thousands of dollars in the weeks prior to the attack, buying guns he used in the attack in addition to other things. The couple visited Disney World Orlando in April, which security officials say he may have been conducting surveillance.
Two days prior to the massacre, Mateen had angrily left his house carrying a bag of gun. Salman told officials she had begged him not to leave while holding his arm.
Two hours after the attack had begun, Mateen texted his wife at 4 in the morning, asking if she knew what was going on, before telling her he loved her.
